John Knox Manor is a nursing home and assisted living facility located in south Montgomery on Narrow Lane Road. In the beginning days of developing Taking the Time, a canvas of letters was sent out to many locations in Montgomery, seeking out ordinary people who may have never been interviewed. Gini Carson, the activities director at John Knox Manor, was the only person to respond with an invitation.

On April 9, 2005, students went to the nursing home facility to interview several of the residents who said they would like to be interviewed for this project. The students interviewed about a dozen people, and the interviews varied in content and substance. The students saw on that Saturday morning that we lose more of history with each passing day.
